Learning to Live Anxiety Free!
Anxiety. What comes to mind when you hear, speak, or think that word? For me, it creates feelings of discomfort, chaos, and cloudiness. These feelings used to rule my life, and as you can imagine, it was not very fun.
Up until about 2 years ago, I used to say I had anxiety. I used it as an excuse, and as a way to explain and describe the state of my mind and body. I also used it as an excuse to not take responsibility for my emotions, and to not step into my higher potential. I did this because I was told, from a very young age, that anxiety runs in my family, and that once you have it, you’re stuck with it for the rest of your life. I was wrong.
About 2 years ago, my mentor Vanessa lifted the veil from my eyes by telling me that I did not, in fact, have to live with anxiety for the rest of my life. She told me to start by taking away its power.
How did I do that? I stopped using the word. I stopped thinking about anxiety, I stopped speaking about anxiety, and instead, I tuned in to how I was actually feeling, and I started to use more specific words to describe how I was feeling. Words like ungrounded, fearful, squirrelly, and over-energized came up a lot.
By tuning in to how I was really feeling, I was able to find and implement solutions to bring myself back into balance. If I felt ungrounded, I could visualize myself rooted into the earth. If I felt fearful, I could remind myself that I am safe and loved, and that the Universe is always conspiring in my favor. If I felt squirrelly or over-energized, I could go exercise or write or dance, to help move energy around and out of my body.
This upgraded thought process was absolutely monumental for the destruction of my anxiety. Instead of feeling uncomfortable, chaotic, and cloudy, I now feel clear and connected. Feeling more clear and connected has allowed me to start owning my emotions and my desires, which has, in turn, allowed me to become several steps closer to my true self, and several steps closer to actualizing my highest potential in this lifetime. When I feel as though I am living into my highest potential and walking my purposeful path, I step further and further away from any feelings even remotely related to anxiety, and I step further and further into feelings of grounded positivity and clarity. The more I create these feelings inside my body, the more I create them in the world around me. You can do this, too, you powerful and creative Being! And together, we’ll build a new, anxiety-free world.
